Mount Olive Track & Field Host Successful Trojan Challenge Meet

Mount Olive, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's track & field teams concluded competition at the Trojans firest-ever home meet Friday night. The men's track & field team won the men's title while the women's team finished in second.

WOMEN'S NOTABLES

  • Four Trojans broke school records in the first UMO meet at the Ray McDonald Sr. Track & Field/Lacrosse Complex.
  • Danielle Hill (Pole Vault), Meredith Lorient (10000m), Malak Kafi (100m Hurdles), and Shania Riffle (High Jump) all became the new record holders in their events.
  • Lorient by winning the 10000m set a track and meet record with a time of 37:48.54. 
  • Kamber Skeen in the pole vault, Leah Hanle in the 10000m, and Hannah Glover in the javelin all moved into second place in the UMO record book.

MEN'S NOTABLES

  • Guillermo Rendon-Alcala won the 100m dash with a time of 10.58 and with the time finished above the NCAA Provisional Qualifying standard. Along with grabbing the NCAA provo, Rendon-Alcala broke the UMO record in the 100m and set a track and meet record.
  • Jonathan Dahkle won the 1500m overtaking Mount Olive alum Austin Stegall on the final lap and his time of 3:49.51 was good enough to pick up a NCAA Provisional Qualifier.
  • Stegall competed in the event as a professional as the UMO alum is now racing for the GTC-Elite organization.
