UMO to Hold Day of Giving April 10

UMO to Hold Day of Giving April 10

Story by University of Mount Olive Public Relations Department

MOUNT OLIVE –On Tuesday, April 10, the University of Mount Olive community will come together for the second annual Day of Giving to support UMO athletics.

"Giving Day is a 24-hour giving challenge to encourage engagement and philanthropy of all members of the UMO community," said Dwayne McKay, Director of External Affairs for Athletics, and one of the Giving Day Committee members.

Through social challenges and good old-fashioned rivalry, participants will have the chance to push their favorite UMO athletics team or support this year's targeted project – a revitalized strength and training room for athletes.

"Strength and conditioning is a vital ingredient to the success of our athletics program," said Vice President of Athletics Jeff Eisen.  "By doubling our space and equipment, it will be much easier to provide quality workout sessions for our more than 400 student-athletes."

To support this 100% virtual initiative, participants are invited to follow the giving day action on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter by following #GiveUMO.

McKay indicated that this year's goal is $10,000.  "This is a very achievable goal and where all UMO supporters come together and can show their Trojan pride to create outstanding opportunities for current and future Trojan athletes," he said. "We invite everyone to join in for the fun, give for the future, and get inspired by the transforming difference one day can make."
