Trojans Set To Compete At Nationals

Mount Olive, N.C. --- The No. 25 University of Mount Olive men's and No. 22 women's track and field teams have eight student-athletes participating in the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championship. The championship takes place over three days from May 24-26 at the Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte, N.C.

Johnson C. Smith University will serve as the host of the championships.

The Trojans get the competition started on Thursday night, May 24, with the running of the 10,000-meter men's and women's races. Adam Craig will represent the Green & White in the men's 10K starting at 8:10 p.m. sophomore Leah Hanle follows in the women's 10K that starts at 8:50 p.m.

UMO's men's 4X400 relay team is the only event the Trojans will participate in on Friday, as Richard Fisher, Montre Holmes, Johnny Middlebrooks, and Tedric Shannon look to earn the title of All-American. The preliminary running of the 4X4 is scheduled for 7:50 p.m. on Friday evening.

Competition wraps up on Saturday with the running of the men's 1500-meter, men's and women's 5,000-meter, and the finals of the men's 4x400.

Jonathan Dahlke takes to the start line at 3:45 p.m. to run the 1500 and follows later in the evening with a 6:10 p.m. running of the men's 5K alongside teammate Adam Craig. Leah Hanle runs her last race of the 2018 season at 6:35 when the women's 5K begins.

Ending the whole event is the running of the men's 4X4 finals at 7 p.m.
