UMO Indoor Track And Field Selected As Preseason Favorites

HIGH POINT, N.C. --- The 2018-19 Conference Carolinas Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field preseason polls were released today by the conference office. The University of Mount Olive enters the year as the favorite to repeat as the Conference Carolinas men's and women's Indoor Track & Field Champion, according to Conference Carolinas coaches.

UMO tallied eight first-place votes for their total of 80 points to be crowned the early season favorite at the 2018-19 men's indoor championship. The men's team claimed 26 all-conference honors including freshman of the year (Jacob Gonzalez) during the championships last season. Mount Olive is hunting for their third consecutive fifth overall indoor title this season.

On the women's side, the Trojans tallied nine first-place votes for their total of 90 points to be crowned the early season favorite at the 2018-19 women's championship. The women's team claimed 24 all-conference honors including freshman of the year (Taylor Moncrief) and athlete of the year (Leah Hanle). The Trojans will be seaking their sixth consecutive and sixth overall indoor title this season.

Mount Olive is looking for a repeat performance at the conference championship meet where it saw the men's and women's indoor track and field teams claim six of the eight overall individual awards at the completion of the championship.

The track and field teams begin their indoor season at the Appalachian St. Open in Boone, N.C. Nov. 30-Dec. 1.
