Moncrief And Mazo Named UMO Scholar-Athletes Of The Month

Mount Olive, N.C. - Juniors Taylor Moncrief and Adrian Mazo have been named the University of Mount Olive Female and Male Scholar-Athletes of the Month for the month of November.

A member of the women's track & field team, Moncrief is a Psychology major and Computer Information Systems minor who holds a 3.86 GPA. In the opening weekend of the indoor season, Moncrief finished first in the high jump with a height of 1.65m and second in the triple jump with her distance of 11.45m at the Appalachian State Open.

At the culmination of the 2017-18 season, Moncrief had tallied a plethora of awards including multiple field athlete of the week awards and she was named the Conference Carolinas Field Athlete of the Year for both the Indoor and Outdoor seasons.

A member of the men's track & field team, Mazo is an RLS Sports Management major who holds a 3.41 GPA. 

Mazo is a hurdler for the men's track & field team and is awaiting his chance to race this season. Last season, Mazo finished third in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 15.40 seconds at the Outdoor Conference Carolinas Championships. 

Scholar-Athlete of the Month winners are nominated by University of Mount Olive faculty members and selected by a committee chaired by UMO math professor and faculty athletics representative Dr. Brenda Cates.
