MEET NOTABLES

  • The men's javelin and Zach Teeple, was the first event to get underway for Mount Olive in the national championship on the final day, but a technical error prevented him from competing.
  • The men's 4x100m relay team ran a nearly identical time in the finals as they did in the prelims clocking in 40.84.
  • Middlebrooks, Bulik, Carr, and Jenkins, however, finished the race with a third-place time and first-team All-American honors to claim the first All-American of the day.
  • The women's 5000m was the next event for UMO to try and claim an All-American and Hanle's second of the championship.
  • Hanle started off in the top-five and made her way to the lead of the pack after the 2600m mark and held that position until falling after the 3400m mark.
  • She fell to as low as fourth before rebounding in the final 400m and took third for her second first-team All-American.
  • Tai Smith came out of the gates strong in the first 1000m during the men's 5000m, but over the next 1200m, he faded quickly, dropping to 18th.
  • He was unable to recover and in the final 400m fell two more spots and finished 20th.
  • The 4x400m relay team shaved nearly three seconds off their prelims time and took third in the 4x400m men's relay finals and grabbed the final All-American on the championship.
