Mount Olive Finishes No. 55 In Learfield Directors Cup; Highest Finish In Program History

CLEVELAND, OHIO – The final set of Learfield Directors' Cup standings were released in early June. Mount Olive and eight other Conference Carolinas schools made the list with UMO sitting second highest in the standings.

The Trojans placed 55th, the highest final ranking in school history since the Learfield Director's Cup was established in 1996. The Trojan indoor and outdoor track & field, cross country, and baseball teams were the major contributors to the highest finish for UMO as all seven teams made NCAA postseason appearances.

"It is great to see that the success of our teams has carried over from the conference level to the national stage.  We are proud of this year's accomplishment and look to establish an even greater presence on the national level in the future," said Jeff Eisen Vice President for Athletics.

Baseball, who made it to the Southeast Regional, finished 41st in the country. Men's Cross Country finished 13th at the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championship with sophomore Jacob Gonzalez having the highest finish of 39th for the Trojans. The Women's Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field teams collected a combined 17th place finish following nationals while their male counterparts completed the season with a 24th place finish.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.  Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
