Ten Trojans Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

New Orleans, La. - The United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association released their Indoor and Outdoor All-Academic honors earlier this week. Ten Trojans from both the men's and women's squads were named to the 2019 teams.

Mount Olive was represented on the men' side by four individuals in Sven Bulik, Arne Leppelsack, Tai Smith, and Zach Teeple. All four student-athletes made post-season appearances at the NCAA National Championships in either the indoor or outdoor seasons. 

Six ladies made the All-Academic team in Shona Blades, Leah Hanle, Candy Lockett, Taylor Moncrief, Celine Ritter, and Elise Tanner. Hanle, Lockett, Moncrief, and Ritter, each made appearances at NCAA Championships throughout the 2018-19 athletic seasons.

Including the Scholar Athletes of the Year for both the women and the men, a total of 760 student-athletes earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2018-19 track & field seasons. 

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic award, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either the indoor or outdoor season.
