Mount Olive Cross Country Teams Ready for Regionals

MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive men's and women's cross country teams are prepared and ready to compete at the 2019 NCAA Division II Southeast Regionals tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 9. The race is hosted by Wingate University at the Wingate Cross Country Facility in Wingate, NC.

RACE INFORMATION
The women's 6K race will begin at 9 AM and the men will follow at 10:15 AM for the 10K race. Fans can follow all of the action at the NCAA Southeast Regional live HERE

TROJANS OUTLOOK
The men's cross country is coming off of their eighth straight Conference Carolinas Men's Cross Country Championship and will look to continue their success with a first-place team finish at Regionals. In 2018, UMO finished second behind Queens University and was led by Tai Smith and Jacob Gonzalez. 

On the women's side, the Trojans are led by Leah Hanle and Amber Owens who finished first and third respectively at the Conference Carolinas Women's Cross Country Championship. Hanle is looking to claim her fourth consecutive NCAA Southeast Regional Runner of the Year en route to an appearance at the NCAA National Championships in Sacramento, CA.

LOOKING AHEAD
Automatic bids are rewarded to the top-3 men's and women's team at each of the eight regional championships, while ten additional teams will be selected as at-large bids by the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Cross Country Committee. Additionally, 24 individuals outside of the qualifying teams are selected to compete at the NCAA Championships.
