Department of Athletics Mission Statement
The Department of Athletics is committed to offering a strong and viable intercollegiate athletics program, which provides a quality athletics experience for male and female student-athletes.
The Department is committed to an environment that encourages and supports diversity; values sportsmanship, fairness, and equity; and provides a constructive learning experience by which student-athletes are able to grow physically, socially, emotionally, spiritually, morally, and intellectually. Academic pursuits have priority and the participants are expected to maintain the proper balance between athletics and academics.
The Department strives for excellence and success in competition, while requiring that in the pursuit of these goals its staff, coaches, and student-athletes adhere to the principles of good sportsmanship and ethical conduct.
University of Mount Olive is a private church-affiliated college which promotes Christian values. The Department is an integral part of University of Mount Olive and takes as its own the mission statement of the College.
In summary, the Board of Trustees, administration, faculty, staff, and students at University of Mount Olive recognize the importance of Christian values and high standards of education. While people come to this College from many backgrounds, each person who chooses to be a part of this community is expected to strive for these high standards.
