Trojans Defeat Saint Augustine's 11-3 Tuesday Afternoon

Jason Morozowski hit a grand slam in a six run fourth inning for the University Of Mount Olive as the Trojans defeated Saint Augustine's University 11-3 on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference baseball. The Trojans hit for the cycle as a team in the fourth inning.

Mount Olive (2-1) sat down the side of Saint Augustine's (0-1) to begin the ball game and kept the Falcons off the board until the third.

Darrell Langston led off the third with a walk and advanced to second on a failed pickoff attempt. Roberto Rivera then singled and Langston went to third. Jason Baytop singled in the game's first run with a poke into right center. Timothy Carter used a sacrifice fly to plate the second run and St. Augustine's took the early lead.

The Falcons added another run in the fourth as Cheek scored on a wild pitch moving the lead to three going into the home half of the fourth.

Justin Manning drew a one out walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. Chris Leduc then found pay dirt in right center as he hustled all the way around to third and scored Manning. Brett Lang followed that up with a double and Leduc came home. After a groundout and a Joe Koehler single, the bases were loaded. Morowzowski waited and found the pitch he was looking for and deposited it into the trees behind the left field fence for a bases clearing grand slam. The Trojans gained the lead for the first time 6-3.

Mount Olive retired the side in order in the top of the fifth and went right back to work in the bottom half. Kilgore Gailmard singled to lead off the inning and Manning followed with a double to put runners at second and third. Leduc picked up another RBI with a sacrifice fly to center as Gailmard tagged up and came in. Lang doubled down the right field line and Manning moved to third.

Stephen Wallace drew a walk and after a strikeout, Manning scored on a passed ball. Two more runs came in after Koehler reached on a fielding error by the pitcher that allowed the ball to travel in foul territory up the right field fence and Wallace and Land came home.

The Trojans added one final run in the seventh off a Zak Orrison double through the left side. Mount Olive shut the door the rest of the way not allowing a run for the final two innings.

Morozowski went 2-for-4 with four RBI and Brett Lang went 3-for-4 with a RBI to lead the Trojans offensively.

Jose Serano (1-0) picked up his first career win in relief as he pitched three innings and allowed one run off three hits and picked up three strikeouts.

Bryan Rivera (0-1) picked up the loss for the Falcons going four and a third innings pitched with 10 runs, seven earned, and struck out six.
