Trojans Defeat Lenoir-Rhyne 11-0

Jason Morozowski went 3-for-4 with a homerun to lift the nationally 4th-ranked University of Mount Olive to an 11-0 victory against Lenoir-Rhyne University in a rain shorted non-conference baseball matchup Tuesday night. The rain halted play in the bottom of the seventh and was far enough along for the game to reach an official stopping point.

Mount Olive (14-2) as they have done recently got the bats swinging to lead off the ball game. Zak Orrison drew a walk to start off the game but was thrown out trying to swipe second. Back-to-back singles set up Justin Manning for a two out RBI-single into left center that allowed Kilgore Gailmard to score the first run of the game.

Lenoir-Rhyne (11-6) kept The Trojans off the board in the second however Mount Olive added two runs in the third. Rob Shipman drove in the runs with a single up the middle and moved the lead to 3-0.

The Trojans kept the offense going in the fourth. Tyler Farmer singled with one away and then stole second. After DeAndre Allen was walked both him and Farmer stole and put two runners into scoring position. Orrison found a hole in right center and cleared the bases with a triple as two came across. Gailmard pushed in the last run of the inning with a single to left.

Mount Olive used the long ball in the sixth as Orrison, Morozowski, and Manning all homered and secured the win for the Trojans.

Rain came into Hickory, N.C. and play was not resumed after the top of the seventh.

Derek Justice (2-0) picked up the win tossing six innings of shutout baseball allowing only four hits and striking out nine.

Nick Flachofsky (1-1) was pinned with the loss. He threw three and a third allowing five runs, four earned off six hits and struck out three.

Mount Olive stays in Hickory where the Trojans will finish the short two game series tomorrow. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
