Trojans Sweep Emmanuel With 13-9 Win Sunday

Jason Morozowski hit two home runs for the No. 22 University of Mount Olive as the Trojans defeated Emmanuel College in game three 13-9 and swept the series Sunday afternoon at Scarborough Field in Mount Olive, N.C. for Conference Carolinas baseball. Joe Koehler also went 3-for-3 with two RBI to help the Trojan's offense.

Zak Orrison singled to left field to lead off the Mount Olive (24-9 Overall, 13-4 Conference Carolinas) first. Orrison was picked off at first on the next pitch. Kilgore Gailmard singled up the middle with one away and Morozowski was hit by a pitch. Justin Manning doubled home the first run of the afternoon with a poke up the middle.

Joe Koehler continued the trend with a double to the centerfield wall and pushed two more home as Manning and Morozowski scored. After a strikeout, catcher Brett Lang picked up an RBI-single to center and Koehler came home. Bretton Gouthro singled to left and moved to second after a fielding error by the left fielder and Lang scored. DeAndre Allen with two away plated another Trojan run as Gouthro scored on the RBI-single. The line-up turned over and Orrison picked up an RBI-double.

After a pitching change Gailmard doubled to right and Orrison came home. Morozowski came up again and crushed a ball over the left field wall for two more Mount Olive runs. A strikeout ended the big inning for the Trojans as they took a 10-lead.

The Trojans added a run in the third as Morozowski hit his second homerun of the game.

Emmanuel (4-26, 3-18) put runs on the board in the top of the fourth. Daniel Shealy led off with a double and moved to third on a single from Logan South. Hunter Barton scored the first run for the Lions with a line shot off the Trojan pitcher and Shealy came home. The second run came in on a fielder's choice to Dacen Cash and Emmanuel brought the deficit to 11-2.

The Lions fought for a couple of runs in the seventh as Jon Floyd with two outs singled to right. After a walk to Cash, Trent Jones singled to left and put runners on the corners. A wild pitch allowed Cash to score and for Jones to take third. A groundout extinguished the rally for Emmanuel and the Trojans lead was cut to 11-4 going into the bottom of the seventh.

Five runs came in for Emmanuel in the eighth as Bo Hardman lead off with a single. Hanon Price drew a walk and Shealy drove Price and Hardmon in with a double to the right centerfield wall. A single moved Shealy to third. A fielder's choice allowed Shealy to come home. A single by Jones plated one more as Barton came home. A wild pitch brought in the final run and Emmanuel trailed by two, 11-9.

Mount Olive put up a few insurance runs in the bottom of the 8th. Morozowski beat a throw from the shortstop for a base hit. He was picked off at first and Manning drew a walk. Koehler also drew a walk. After an infield fly by Bradley Ragan, Brandon Day came up to pinch hit and knocked home two big runs as he found a hole on the right side.

The Trojans shut down the ninth and swept Emmanuel in game three.

Kodi Whitley (6-2) picked up the win on the mound for Mount Olive. Whitley went five complete and gave up two runs off five hits and struck out seven.

Mount Olive will hit the road Wednesday as they will play Saint Augustine's in Cary, N.C. at the USA National Training Center. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
