Trojans Finish Regular Season With 5-0 Win Over Francis Marion

Jason Morozowski went 3-for-4 with two home runs as the No. 28 University of Mount Olive defeated Francis Marion 5-0 in the regular season finale of non-conference baseball at Scarborough Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Trojans blasted three home runs in the game.

Mount Olive (37-15) did not waste any time as the Trojans got to work in the first inning after retiring Francis Marion (28-18) in order in the top half. Kilgore Gailmard drew a one out walk to give Mount Olive a base runner. Morozowski on a 1-1 fastball blasted a shot over the Mount Olive Pickle Company sign in right center field and the Trojans took the lead.

The Trojans were silent until the fifth inning when Morozowski hit his second home run of the game with two away. Rob Shipman added another run to the tally as he hammered a pitch into the woods in right field.

In the seventh the final run of the ball game came home. Morozowski singled to lead off the inning. He ended up at third after he stole second and moved to third on a ground out by Justin Manning. Joe Koehler hit a fly ball deep enough to center to score Morozowski .

After eight scoreless innings Derek Justice (8-3) was replaced in the ninth by Kodi Whitley who shut down the ninth. Justice threw 139 pitches in route to his eighth win. He allowed just five hits and struck out eight and also surrendered two walks. With the win Justice becomes the All-Time Career wins leader with a career record of 25-7 moving ahead of former Trojans and pitcher for the Miami Marlins, Carter Capps.

Mount Olive awaits their fate in the southeast regional tournament. The NCAA Selection show will be aired at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday May 10.
