Baseball Falls To Catawba 10-2

University of Mount Olive fell to Catawba College 10-2 in non-conference baseball Tuesday at Scarborough Field. The contest was a rematch of the semifinal round of last year's NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.

Mount Olive (6-5) took an early 1-0 lead as Zak Orrison led off with a double and came home on Brett Lang's one-out single. Catawba (7-6) took the lead for good in the top of the second as Malachi Hanes led off the inning with a triple and the Indians pushed four runs across the plate.

Mount Olive resumes Conference Carolinas action this weekend as the Trojans travel to Franklin Springs, Ga., for a three-game series at Emmanuel College. The two teams play a single game Friday at 6 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon.
