Mount Olive, N.C. --- In its home-opener, the University of Mount Olive baseball team took a doubleheader sweep from Lander University 3-0 & 4-0 on Saturday at Scarborough Field in Mount Olive, N.C.

GAME ONE
- Mount Olive opened up game one in the bottom of the second. Justin Carroll started the inning off with a single through the left side. Nate Estes moved him to third with a second straight single
- Jose Lopez drove in the game's first run as he grounded out and UMO led 1-0.
- Following a lead-off triple in the bottom of the third, Jack Sherrill grounded out and pushed home Surum to give UMO a two-run lead.
- The final Trojan run came home off a Carroll sacrifice fly and Mount Olive took game one 3-0.
GAME TWO
- UMO scored all of the game's runs in the bottom of the second inning. Bradley Ragan, Jack Sherrill, and David Mayo all picked up RBIs to give the Trojans all the run support starting pitcher Austin Hutchison needed to pick up the win.
KEY STATS GAME 1
- Senior Bruce Zimmerman (1-0) picked up the win in game one going six complete innings with 12 strikeouts, four walks, and surrendering two hits.
- Fellow senior Zach Mozingo (S1) closed the door to pick up his first save of the season going three complete with seven strikeouts and no hits allowed.
- Carroll and Sherrill led the offense with a RBI a piece.
KEY STATS GAME 2
- Senior Austin Hutchison (1-0) picked up the complete-game win in game two for Mount Olive pitching seven innings, striking out 10, and allowing two hits and two walks.
- Ragan led the offense with a two-RBI performance.
NOTABLES
- Mount Olive combined to strike out 29-of-48 Lander Bearcats in the DH sweep.
