How It Happened
Play-by-Play

GAME RUNDOWN

  • Mount Olive struggled to get any offensive threat in the beginning of the game as the Trojans only managed a single baserunner per inning, with only one getting into scoring position, through the first three innings.
  • USC Aiken had an opportunity to score in the top of the second as the Pacers had the bases loaded with one out. UMO however, kept USCA off the board recording a strikeout and a flyout to escape the jam.
  • The sixth inning proved to be the deciding inning for Mount Olive as catcher Jose Lopez led off the inning with a double down the left field line. Following two putouts, Zach Mozingo reached first after being hit by a pitch. David Mayo loaded up the bases after he worked out a walk.
  • A pitching change for USC Aiken proved to be costly as a wild pitch allowed Mayo to score the sole run of the game.
  • Mozingo came in from his outfield position to close out the Pacers in the top of the ninth in order as Mount Olive took the second game of the three-game series.
