GAME RUNDOWN

  • Mount Olive fell behind early as Catawba struck for three runs in the bottom of the first.
  • Down 5-1 in the top of the fourth David Mayo broke the drought with a solo home run to give UMO a run.
  • The Indians continued to expand on their lead with five more runs over the next two innings.
  • Alvin Swoope picked up one of his two home runs on the night in the seventh as he drove two home making the Catawba lead 10-3.
  • Catawba tacked on nine runs in the seventh putting the game out of reach for the Trojans.
  • Swoope gave the Trojans their last bit of hope in the ninth as he belted another two-run home run but it was not enough as Mount Olive fell.
