GAME RUNDOWN

  • Mount Olive fell behind in the top of the third on an RBI-single through the left side with two away to give Franklin Pierce the early lead 1-0.
  • The Trojans did not falter in the bottom of the third as Jack Sherrill reached on a hit by pitch to give UMO a lead-off base runner. 
  • Grant Tyndall capitalized on the Ravens miscue as he belted a home run to left and gave Mount Olive the lead 2-1.
  • Franklin Pierce responded with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth to regain the lead.
  • UMO again had an answer as Jose Lopez tied the game at three with an RBI-single to left center that scored Zach Mozingo.
  • After retiring FPU in order in the top of the fifth, Mount Olive pushed across two runs on a Drew Ellis RBI-single through the right side and the Trojans reclaimed the lead 5-3.
  • The Trojans added runs in the sixth and seventh, including a Drew Ellis solo home run in the seventh, to counter Franklin Pierce's solo run in the seventh as Mount Olive held on for the 7-4 win.

  • Ethan Horne (2-1) was credited with the win on the mound in relief as he went two and a third holding the Ravens scoreless giving up one hit and striking out three.
