GAME RUNDOWN

  • Mount Olive took control of the game early on in the bottom of the first with two away. 
  • Drew Ellis worked out a 10 pitch walk to keep the inning alive and Jose Lopez followed suit by drawing a walk as well.
  • Zach Mozingo put UMO on the board as he lifted a 1-2 pitch over the right field wall and the Trojans jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
  • UMO retired FMU in order in the second and third and added a run in the bottom of the third off a Drew Ellis sacrifice fly to right as Ricky Surum scored to give the Trojans a four-run lead.
  • The sixth inning saw the Trojans push home three more runs including Drew Ellis' 11th home run of the season and Mount Olive led 7-0.
  • The Patriots did get two runners on in the top of the ninth, but UMO held Francis Marion scoreless and took the 7-0 win.

KEY STATS

  • Braxton Shetley (3-3) took the win on the mound as he went seven complete holding Francis Marion to four hits while striking out four Patriots.
  • Mozingo delivered the early three-run home run and led the Trojans from the plate hitting .500 in four appearances with his three RBI. Ellis also contributed two RBI.
