Due West, S.C. --- The second-ranked University of Mount Olive swept the series from Erskine College after taking the series finale, 7-4, on the road in Conference Carolinas baseball action Saturday afternoon in Due West, S.C.

GAME RUNDOWN
- Mount Olive opened up the final game of the series with a trio of runs in the top of the first. Zach Mozingo drew a lead-off four pitch walk and Ricky Surum was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second. A failed fielder's choice allowed Mozingo to score and gave UMO the lead. Jose Lopez picked up a RBI on a sacrifice fly to score the second run. Three straight walks allowed Tony Salvaggio to push home the third and final run of the inning.
- UMO expanded the cushion with single runs in the third and fourth.
- Erskine was able to push back with solo runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth.
- Ricky Surum's RBI-single in the top of the sixth put UMO up 6-2.
- Mount Olive added another run in the top of the eighth off the bat of Surum with a RBI flyout.
- The Flying Fleet pushed back with two runs in the eighth, but the Trojans held strong retiring Erskine in order in the ninth and swept the series.
KEY STATS
- Brighton Hudson (7-1) took the win on the mound as he gave up two runs off five hits and struck out one.
- German Reyes (S: 1) came in for the save holding the Flying Fleet hitless in his inning and a third.
- Salvaggio led the team with two RBI.
