GAME RUNDOWN

  • Mount Olive took the momentum in the bottom of the first after four walks in the inning allowed David Mayo to walk in the game's first run when he worked out a five-pitch free pass.
  • Chowan went on to tie the game at one with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth.
  • The Trojans did not allow the tie to remain for long as UMO attacked in the bottom half. A Trae Sweeting single and Zach Mozingo walk gave way to Ricky Surum scoring them both, following a wild pitch, on an RBI-single to give Mount Olive a 3-1 lead.
  • Chowan did get a runner to third in the top of the ninth, but could not score as the Trojans took the victory.

KEY STATS

  • Trey Pate (6-0) took the win on the mound as he gave up one unearned run off four hits and struck out seven over his seven innings of work.
