Play-by-Play

GAME RUNDOWN

  • Mount Olive was able to snag the early momentum as the Trojans' Jose Lopez reached on a walk to lead off the bottom of the second. Lopez ended up on third following a balk and a flyout. David Mayo pushed home the first run of the game with an RBI-single to left center and UMO led 1-0.
  • The Trojans held Pfeiffer from doing much of anything until the Falcons exploded for eight runs in the top of the sixth. After a leadoff pop out, the next 10 batters reached base safely and Pfeiffer took an 8-1 lead.
  • Drew Ellis answered for UMO in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI-single down the left field line and the Trojans cut the deficit to six.
  • Pfeiffer again had the answer by plating a run in the top of the eighth to lead 9-2.
  • UMO was unable to put up much of a fight in the bottom of the ninth as the Trojans were retired in order to end the contest.
