Mount Olive, N.C. --- The top-ranked University of Mount Olive defeated No. 5 Seed UNC Pembroke 4-3 in 13 innings in UMO's opening game of the 2017 Southeast Regional.

GAME RUNDOWN
- Mount Olive took the lead in the bottom of the fifth after Trae Sweeting reached with a one-out single through the left side. Zack Mozingo then doubled home Sweeting and UMO led 1-0.
- Ricky Surum added another run for the Trojans with an RBI-single up the middle in the bottom of the seventh to push Mount Olive up by two.
- UNC Pembroke battled back to tie the game in the top of the ninth on an RBI-double and a pair of Trojan defensive errors.
- The game stalemated until the bottom of the 13th inning for Mount Olive. Mozingo singled to center to start off the inning. He then advanced to second on a failed backside pickoff attempt by the Braves catcher. Following an intentional walk to Drew Ellis, Jose Lopez came up with the winning hit down 0-1 in the count. The Trojan catcher singled into left and a fielding mishap by the UNCP left fielder allowed Mozingo to score from second and Mount Olive walked off with the 4-3 win.
KEY STATS
- Zach Mozingo (4-0) was credited with the win in relief as the senior pitched the final five and two-thirds innings allowing three runs, two earned, off eight hits and struck out five.
- Zach Mozingo and Ricky Surum both led the team with solo RBI performances at the plate.
