Mount Olive, N.C. --- The top-ranked University of Mount Olive fell to the second-seeded University of North Georgia Nighthawks, 13-6, in game nine of the 2017 NCAA Division II Baseball Southeast Regional at Scarborough Field in Mount Olive, N.C.

GAME RUNDOWN

  • North Georgia jumped on top of the Trojans in the first with seven runs highlighted by a pair of home runs by Connor Hoover and Andres Perez.

  • The Trojans answered with two runs in the bottom of the first on solo homers by Zach Mozingo and Drew Ellis that trimmed the Nighthawks' advantage to 7-2.

  • In the top of the third, North Georgia pushed two runs across on a two-run double by Devin Gearhart that increased the Nighthawks' lead back to seven at 9-2.

  • Ellis lifted his second home run, a two-run shot, of the night just over the right field wall in the bottom of the third that pushed UMO back within five at 9-4.

  • The Nighthawks tacked on three runs in the fourth to grab a 12-4 lead.

  • Twice in the final four innings the Trojans put runners on first and second with no outs, but Mount Olive could only push one across as North Georgia captured the 13-6 win.
