AIKEN, S.C. --- No. 7 University of Mount Olive wrapped up a three-game series with the Pacers of USC Aiken taking a 12-7 victory on Sunday afternoon in Aiken, S.C.

GAME RUNDOWN

  • Mount Olive wasted no time attacking the Pacers as in only the second inning the Trojans' offense got to work. Aaron Hedgepeth got the run started with a one-out double to right center. Following a walk to Justin Lee and a single by Chris Douglas, Trae Sweeting singled past short to score Hedgepeth for the first run of the game.
  • Jordan Huntley pushed home two more runs as he found a gap in left center to give UMO a 3-0 lead.
  • Nate Estes continued Mount Olive's big inning with a three-run home run. 
  • Justin Carroll brought home the final run of the inning with an RBI-single to center and the Trojans exploded out to a 7-0 lead.
  • USC Aiken fought back to add a single run in the second and two runs in the fifth as UMO held a four-run advantage.
  • Drew Ellis and Lee both delivered two-RBI base hits in the top of the sixth, as the Trojans drove in four runs to give Mount Olive an 11-3 lead.
  • Mount Olive tacked on one run in the eighth and held off a late run from the Pacers in the bottom of the ninth to take the series finale win and the overall series win.
