MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. --- No. 5 University of Mount Olive completed the series sweep of Davis & Elkins College with a 20-3 game three win at Scarborough Field Sunday afternoon in Mount Olive, N.C.

GAME RUNDOWN

  • Mount Olive found itself down in an early hole as Davis & Elkins pushed home three runs in the top of the first.
  • Not to be out-done the Trojans patiently waited to attack three innings later.
  • UMO exploded for a massive 10 runs in the bottom of the third highlighted by home runs by Gunner Tolston and Drew Ellis.
  • The inning also saw RBI by Justin Lee, Trae Sweeting, Jon Cosme, and Nate Estes as the Trojans jumped out to a 10-3 lead.
  • Mount Olive did not let up as the runs continued to pile on with three runs in the sixth.
  • Tolston added his second home run of the game and Brett Adams homered in the seventh to extend the lead to 13.
  • Finally, the UMO offense added two more long balls off the bats of Ben Connor and Aaron Hedgepeth in the eighth to seal the win 20-3 and get the series sweep of Davis and Elkins.
