MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. --- No. 19 University of Mount Olive's second game of a two-game series with No. 4 Florida Southern College at Scarborough Field was called in the middle of the top of the seventh inning following a medical injury to an official on Tuesday afternoon in Mount Olive, N.C. The game due to being past the fifth inning became an official contest and ended in a 0-0 tie.

GAME RUNDOWN

  • Mount Olive and Florida Southern were in a pitchers duel for the first three innings before both teams got their first hits. 
  • Despite each team getting a hit in the fourth, the game remained scoreless heading into the sixth when UMO would record their second hit of the game on a Drew Ellis single down the right-field line that missed giving the Trojans a 1-0 lead by inches as it banged off the yellow stripe on the outfield wall.
  • Jon Cosme came into pinch-run for Ellis and stole second but Mount Olive was kept off the boards once again.
  • Florida Southern had runners at first and third in the top of the seventh when the game was suspended and then eventually called as a 0-0.
