MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. --- No. 6 University of Mount Olive baseball took down the No. 16 Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College 5-3 on Friday evening in Conference Carolinas competition at Scarborough Field in Mount Olive, N.C.

GAME RUNDOWN
- Belmont Abbey started the game off by putting the pressure on UMO by plating two runs in the top of the first.
- Mount Olive countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second on a Blake McLean two RBI-triple to tie the game at two.
- The Crusaders jumped back in front in the top of the third on a bases-loaded walk that put BAC up 3-2.
- UMO once again not to be out-done battled back in the bottom half to regain the lead with the tying and go-ahead runs scoring on a Jose Lopez RBI-single to center. Justin Carroll also scored in the inning on a wild pitch and Mount Olive took a 5-3 lead.
- The Trojan then put the ice on the Belmont Abbey bats holding the Crusaders to just five hits for the remainder of the game and took the series-opening win.
KEY STATS
- Brighton Hudson (3-1) got the win for Mount Olive as he powered through six complete innings throwing 129 pitches and surrendering three runs off seven hits and struck out 10 Crusaders.
- Zach Vennaro (Sv:4) came in the eighth inning and closed out the game for the two-inning save allowing two hits and striking out three.
- Jose Lopez and Blake McLean both led the Trojans with two RBI performances.
