MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. --- University of Mount Olive baseball dropped the Conference Carolinas series opener against the Saints of Limestone College 7-5 on Friday evening at in Gaffney, S.C.

GAME RUNDOWN

  • The Trojans tried to attack from the beginning as Trae Sweeting and Jose Lopez led off the top of the first with singles to give UMO runners at first and second.
  • Nate Estes, following a putout, gave Mount Olive the lead as he launched a ball over the left field wall for a bases-clearing home run.
  • Limestone responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the second to trail by two.
  • The Saints continued to press tacking five runs over the three innings to take a 6-3 lead after the fifth inning.
  • Mount Olive tried to make a bit of a comeback as two runs came across on a wild pitch and a Drew Ellis RBI-single as the Trojans trailed 6-5 the eighth.
