MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. --- No. 25 University of Mount Olive baseball dropped its opener in the Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship Tournament 14-1 against the Tornado of King University on Thursday evening in Burlington, N.C.

GAME RUNDOWN
- King jumped out early as a solo home run in the top of the second gave them a 1-0 lead.
- UMO looked to answer in the bottom half as Jose Lopez singled to start the inning. Lopez then advanced to second on a passed ball,
- Jordan Huntley then moved Lopez to third with a single up the middle to give Mount Olive runners at the corners with one away.
- Mount Olive then was able to tie the game up on a James Smibert sacrifice fly.
- King responded with a bases-loaded walk in the third to regain the lead 3-2.
- The Trojans ran into some trouble in the middle part of the game as the Tornado exploded for 12 runs over the next two innings and pulled ahead 14-1.
- UMO struggled to get any kind of offense working as the Trojans managed only three hits for the remainder of the game and took the loss.
KEY STATS
- Brighton Hudson (5-3) took the loss for Mount Olive as he allowed six runs off eight hits and struck out one.
- Blake McLean led the Trojans with a 2-for-4 performance from the plate.
