GAME ONE

  • Nate Estes helped liven up the fans with an RBI-double to left center scoring McLean for the game's first run.
  • A Royals fielding error allowed two more runs to score in the inning pushing UMO ahead 3-0.
  • Back-to-back singles contributed to Zack Smith scoring the fourth Mount Olive run.
  • Two straight walks to Gunner Tolston and Justin Lee pushed home another run and a Hunter Gore single through the right side plated the final two runs of the inning as the seven-run outburst came to an end for the Trojans.
  • JT Stone helped push the Mount Olive lead to nine with a bases-clearing triple that scored three Trojans moving UMO up 10-1 after the sixth.
  • Queens added two runs in the eighth off an RBI-single to make the deficit eight, however, the runs were quickly answered by UMO on a sacrifice fly by stone and a solo home run by Coy Barnett.
  • The Royals did tack on a run in the ninth via the long ball, but the solo shot was all the Trojans surrendered and Mount Olive took game one.

GAME TWO

  • Mount Olive struggled to get the offense they had in game one to carry over into game two as with the bases loaded in the bottom of the first UMO was held scoreless in what proved to be the only inning that the Trojans had more than two base runners on in the entire game.
  • Queens scored the only run of the game on a wild pitch after the runner that scored reached on a hit by pitch to lead-off the inning.
  • UMO had a chance in the sixth following a one-out double by Stone and pinch-hit walk by Aaron Hedgepeth put runners at the corners with two away, but once again the scoring threat was extinguished.
  • The final effort for the Trojans fell short as Queens retired the Trojans in order to secure the game two win and split the series.
