  • Mason then scored on a base hit through the left side by Zack Smith the drew an errant throw from the Bobcat left fielder and the Trojans took the 5-4 lead.

  • After tying the game, the Bobcats used another two-run home run to take the lead in the seventh.
  • Mount Olive was finally able to get the bats swinging again in the seventh as with one away Smith worked out a one-out walk and was moved into scoring position by James Smibert's base hit into left.
  • A series of walks helped move more Trojan base runners as Jett Swetland and McLean drew walks, with McLean's pushing home UMO's seventh run.
  • Cosme then came up with a clutch hit for the Trojans with an RBI-double down the right field line that scored Smibert and Swetland to give UMO the 9-8 lead heading into the eighth.
  • Mount Olive had an opportunity to add some insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth as a walk and back-to-back hit batters loaded the bases for the Trojans, but UMO was unable to scratch across a run and the game went into the final frame.
