LEXINGTON, S.C. --- No. 17 University of Mount Olive Trojans defeated the Bobcats of Georgia College 9-8 in a neutral site battle at the Lexington County Baseball Stadium late Wednesday night.

GAME RUNDOWN
- Mount Olive did not have a good start to the game as the Bobcats of Georgia College got on the boards first in the top of the first on a two-run home run and took the game's first lead.
- The Trojans fought back and struck for a single run in the bottom half with two away as JT Stone got on with a double and Joe Mason drove him in to draw the deficit to 2-1.
- GC added another pair of runs that started off a UMO error and the cushion for the Bobcats grew to 4-1.
- UMO had to bounce back yet again in the bottom of the second with two outs.
- Blake McLean and Jon Cosme both worked themselves aboard with singles to give Mount Olive two runners on base.
- Gunner Tolston then tied the game with a mammoth shot over the right field wall and the game was knotted at four.
- Mount Olive after hanging a zero in the top of the third came back to make a little noise in the bottom half as Mason led off the inning with a base hit up the middle.
- Mason then scored on a base hit through the left side by Zack Smith the drew an errant throw from the Bobcat left fielder and the Trojans took the 5-4 lead.
- McLean helped extend the inning with an RBI-single back up the middle that allowed Smith to come around and score and push UMO ahead by two.
- Georgia College came back with another big blow and replicated what they did in the first with a two-run home run to right center and tied the game once again at six all.
- After tying the game, the Bobcats used another two-run home run to take the lead in the seventh.
- Mount Olive was finally able to get the bats swinging again in the seventh as with one away Smith worked out a one-out walk and was moved into scoring position by James Smibert's base hit into left.
- A series of walks helped move more Trojan base runners as Jett Swetland and McLean drew walks, with McLean's pushing home UMO's seventh run.
- Cosme then came up with a clutch hit for the Trojans with an RBI-double down the right field line that scored Smibert and Swetland to give UMO the 9-8 lead heading into the eighth.
- Mount Olive had an opportunity to add some insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth as a walk and back-to-back hit batters loaded the bases for the Trojans, but UMO was unable to scratch across a run and the game went into the final frame.
- The Trojans were able to close out the top of the ninth and took the final score 9-8.
KEY STATS
- Kyle Davis (3-2) picked up the win in relief pitching one complete surrendering two runs off one hit and struck out two.
- Trey Pate (SV:1) got the save pitching the final two innings, as he did not surrender a hit and struck out.
- Gunner Tolston led the team with three RBI and a run scored, going 2-for-5 at the dish.
