Trojan Field Hockey Falls To Bellarmine 7-1

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – The University of Mount Olive women's field hockey team dropped a 7-1 decision to Bellarmine University in non-conference action Saturday afternoon in Charlotte, N.C.   
 
Game Information
Neither team was able to find a goal in the opening frame but the Knights of Bellarmine took the scoring momentum at the 9:22 mark in the second. Cyani Wheeler was able to respond for UMO nearly a minute later to knot the game at one off a rebound shot off the BU keeper, but the Knights came back strong. Bellarmine finished the quarter on a 3-0 run to take a 4-1 lead into the break. The Trojans held BU to just one score in the third but once again the offense stalled and the Knights added a pair of goals in the fourth to secure the 7-1 win.

 
Trojan Leaders
Cyani Wheeler led the Trojans with two shots, one on frame, and the lone score for UMO.

Victoria Lane (1-4) in the cage for the Trojans recorded 15 saves on 32 shots on goal.

Knight Leaders
Bellarmine was led by Amber Hofenk Jerembo with her two scores and one assist as she was also the team leader in shots with eight.

Key Moment
The second-quarter run by Bellarmine, following the Cyani Wheeler tying goal, that saw three goals scored in the last eight minutes of play took the momentum for the remainder of the game.
