UMO Field Hockey's Season Comes To A Close With 7-1 Loss To Queens In Regular Season Finale

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – The University of Mount Olive women's field hockey team fell to the Royals of Queens University 7-1 in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas action Saturday afternoon in Charlotte, N.C. The loss brings to a close the inaugural season of the UMO Field Hockey program as they finished seventh in the conference.
 
Game Information
In the first quarter, Queens jumped out to a 2-0 lead after scoring the first goal 1:36 into the contest. The second frame saw the Royals add another goal at the 21:00 mark and the momentum was firmly in hands of QU. Mount Olive went onto gain a bit of the momentum back with a Catherine Wilson score three minutes later when Eline Edo found her stick and UMO trailed 3-1. Queens, however, took one last goal before the break and went into halftime up three. Mount Olive had no response in the second half as the Royals tacked on four more goals and finished the game with the 7-1 win.


Trojan Leaders
Catherine Wilson led the Trojans with the sole goal for UMO on her only shot of the contest.

Victoria Lane (1-13, 1-11 SACC) in the cage for the Trojans recorded 13 saves on 20 shots on goal.

Royal Leaders
Queens was led by Mazvita Mtisi who scored two of QU's seven goals and added two assists off three shots.

Key Moment
The second goal of the second period for Queens took back the momentum after a Trojans score and never looked back.

Up Next: Mount Olive concludes its first season of competition after the contest and captured its first win against Converse College September 14 on its' home-opener and ended the season seventh in the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas.
