Dominique Reed scores a career high 24 points as the University of Mount Olive defeats Lees-McRae 93-65 in Conference Carolinas men's basketball Wednesday night in Banner Elk, N.C.

The first half was played close to the tie as the game was tied five times before the Trojans (16-8 Overall, 10-4 Conference Carolinas) started to pull away. Reed's layup with 11:22 left in the first half broke the fifth tie of the game for the final time as Mount Olive took the 19-17 lead. It was the last time the game was tied.

Ewon Wright helped the Trojans push out to a 17 point lead with a pair of three-pointers at the end of the half and Mount Olive went into in half with a 49-32 lead.

In the second half the Trojans lead never fell below 14 as the lead expanded to as large as 28. Reed scored eight of his 24 points in an opening half early 11-4 run to give Mount Olive a 24 point lead with 16:32 left.

Lees-McRae (6-19, 1-13) went on a quick 7-0 run that lasted just under one minute. Mike Chambers' jumper with 11:59 to go started the Bobcats run. Raul Tutton's jumper fell and he converted a free throw opportunity to inch them even closer. Jacquise Moore banked a layup off the glass and brought the Trojan lead down to 14, however that was as close as Lees-McRae got to taking over from Mount Olive.

Mount Olive finished the game on a 9-0 run, Kendall Hargrove had six of the nine points in the run and Kyle Rhoades added a three-pointer with :20 left in the game. Hargrove hit a pair of free throws with six seconds left to give the University of Mount Olive the 93-65 win.
