FIRST HALF

  • After the Trojans and Flying Fleet traded leads through the first nine points, UMO grabbed a 10-5 lead on three-pointers by sophomore Jamaal Matin and freshman Tyler Thomas with 15:14 left to play in the opening half.
  • Erskine moved back within a pair at 14-12 on a dunk by Justin Shelton with 8:12 remaining in the half.
  • Mount Olive responded with a 9-0 run, capped off by a layup by freshman Saiquan Jamison, that gave the Trojans a 23-12 lead with 5:43 left on the clock in the first period.
  • The Trojans' lead reached its largest point of the half at 31-16 on a three by Matin with 1:57 left in the first half before a layup by Erskine cut Mount Olive's lead to 31-18 at the halftime break.

 SECOND HALF

  • UMO looked to have taken control of the contest as a layup by freshman Armond Griebe provided the Trojans with a 43-24 lead with 14:50 remaining in the second half.
  • With 7:56 left to play, a pair of free throws by Griebe gave Mount Olive a 58-41 advantage.
  • A 9-1 run by the Flying Fleet pushed Erskine back within single digits at 59-50 with 3:53 left on the clock.
  • The Trojans' lead dwindled all the way to six after Erskine's Zezmon Steeple made a layup to trim UMO's lead to 64-58 with 1:24 remaining to play.
  • In the final minute, a dunk by Jamison and a pair of free throws by Matin secured the 68-58 victory for Mount Olive.
