MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive men's basketball team fell to the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College 85-68 on Saturday evening in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action in Mount Olive, N.C.

FIRST HALF

  • Tanner Poole got the Trojans on the scoreboard first but the Crusaders quickly turned the table as they went on a 17-2 run that gave Belmont Abbey a 13-point, 17-4, lead at the 14:32 mark.
  • Over the next four minutes, Mount Olive chipped away at the BAC lead to pull within seven points, 25-18, but the Crusaders went on a 10-2 run to take a 15-point lead, 35-20, with the clock hitting 6:57.
  • The Crusaders held on to their advantage throughout the remainder of the opening half as the teams entered halftime with the score sitting at 46-32.

SECOND HALF

  • BAC scored the first seven points of the second half to open up a 21-point lead, 53-32, with 18:11 remaining.
  • Jamaal Matin helped lead the Trojans on a 19-9 rally that pulled Mount Olive within 10 points, 61-51, as the clock neared the 12-minute mark.
  • Belmont Abbey took an 18 point lead following a 10-2 run with the clock ticking under nine minutes.
  • The Crusaders held on to a double-digit lead through the remainder of the game to win by 17 points, 85-68.
