Trojans Finish Third At UNCP/Campbell Oil/Sunoco Classic

Sebastian Andersen tied for fifth out of 88 golfers and University of Mount Olive finished third out of 16 teams at the UNCP/Campbell Oil/Sunoco Men's Golf Classic, hosted by UNC Pembroke. The final 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament were played Tuesday.

After carding a 73 and a 76 in Monday's first two rounds, Andersen shot an even par 72 Tuesday for a 221, only four strokes out of first place. Andersen was one of two Trojans to finish among the top 15 as Jesus Valderrama tied for 13th with a 74-76-75—225.

Mark O'Hara (79-71-80—230) tied for 28th, Jeff Villalobos (76-75-80—231) tied for 34th and Brady Hollenbacher (79-79-77—235) tied for 46th.

Mount Olive carded a team score of 302-298-304—904. Newberry, which had the top three individual finishers, won the tournament with an 882. Erskine was second at 893.

The Mount Olive men's and women's golf teams play host to The Trojan Presented by SCNB (Smithfield Chicken N Biscuits) next Monday and Tuesday at Goldsboro, N.C. The 36-hole men's and women's tournaments will take place at Walnut Creek Country Club.
