Notables

  • John Thatch led the way for the Trojans as he shot even par on the day including a birdie on No. 7 and finished the tournament with a 218 and tied with Marc Sweeny from South Carolina Beaufort.
  • The two squared off for a playoff on No. 18 and the Trojan senior had his work cut out for him as his drive went right off the tee box and into the rough. Thatch was able to find a clear approach to the green and landed the ball just long of the flagstick. Following a chip to place the ball with a few feet, the senior two-putted in for bogey and awaited his fate as Sweeney made his putt attempt. The USCB player missed two putts in a row and Thatch won the playoff.
  • Harry Bayley made up solid ground as he moved up eight spots on the leaderboard to finish inside the top-10 with a one-under-par that included four birdies in the final round.
  • Nick Adams also followed suit with a 71 and had birdies on No. 5, 6, 9, 15, and 17 on his final card of The Trojan.
  • Ricky Gutierrez led the Mount Olive B team with a respectable 231 and a t-25 tournament finish.

Players Comments

  • "I knew it was going to be a patience test both days. I paced myself and knew I could get the job done. It'll be great momentum going into the conference championship," said Thatch.
