Men's Golf Finishes Play In Packed Nationally Ranked Newberry College Invitational

Kiawah Island, S.C. - The University of Mount Olive men's golf team finished 16th out of 18 teams after the final round of the Newberry College Invitational Tuesday afternoon in Kiawah Island, S.C. The Trojans placed above the No. 17 nationally ranked team at the Invitational that saw a packed nationally ranked field with 10 out of the 18 participating teams being ranked inside the top-35 in the Golfstat NCAA DII rankings.

Notables

  • Arthur Heinbach led the Trojans by shooting a 231 overall (+15) and placed T37th. 
  • The Trojans placed above the No. 17 nationally ranked team.
  • The weather was a major factor in the final round as with a high of 54 degrees and winds whipping at around 30 miles per hour coming off the coast, conditions were far from favorable. 
  • The low score for the tournament in round three was a 74 (+2) and 57 golfers shot 80 or above.
  • The field at the Newberry College Invitational had 10 out of the 18 participating teams ranked inside the top-35 in the Golfstat NCAA DII rankings.
