UMO Men's Golf Sits Seventh After First Day Of Conference Carolinas Championship

SNOW HILL, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive men's golf team sits 7th out of nine teams at the 2019 Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament Sunday afternoon at Cutter Creek Golf Club in Snow Hill, N.C. Patrick Schweitz leads the Trojans inside the top-20 with four others in a dead tie behind him for 27th.

  • Patrick Schweitz led the Trojans by shooting a 74 in the opening round as he started the day even par through the first four holes, before making a bogey on No. 14, but finished the back nine even and made the turn one over. 
  • Brice Ballin started off his day two-under after the first three holes but a double-bogey on No. 13 forced him back even.
  • He finished the first nine holes even as he made the turn. Ballin ended his round with four birdies to finish in a three-way team tie, nine-way tie for 27th.
  • The Trojans are six strokes behind the No. 50 ranked team in NCAA DII and sixth place team as the field is tightly packed 1-through-6 with nine shots separating the field.
