Men's Lacrosse Wins 2nd Straight, Pounds Alderson-Broaddus 18-3

Host Alderson-Broaddus saw a sea of green on St. Patrick's Day as 12 different players scored goals and Mount Olive earned its first two-game winning streak in program history with an 18-3 non-conference men's lacrosse victory Sunday afternoon at Philippi, W.Va.

It marked the second consecutive outing the Trojans (4-3) scored at least 18 goals as Mount Olive's attack has found new life after struggling early. Six players in all found the back of the net in a well-balanced attack.

The was more than Mount Olive's scoring that did in the Battlers (0-5). Mount Olive limited Alderson-Broaddus to just 6-of-15 in clearing opportunities, and the Trojans won 20-of-26 face-offs.

In the net, Rocky Bowman and Eli Dodgson combined for seven saves and Tyler Feniello accounted for seven of the team's 25 ground ball recoveries.

Leading the way for Mount Olive were Matt Shields, Blake Bennett, Spencer Gelinas, Alex Tindall, Jake Duarte and Matt Devoy who scored two goals apiece. Cameron Walsh, Daniel Shields, Jake Hancock, Dylan Woods, Cody Dowling and Aaron Bowlan scored one apiece.

Matt and Daniel Shields had two assists apiece, while Devoy had one.

The Trojans return home for their first game at Amon Field in 18 days when Coker comes to Mount Olive Wednesday night beginning at 7 p.m.
