Men's Lacrosse Has A Ball - Trojans Defeat Emmanuel 18-6

Jacob Ball scored five goals as nationally 15th-ranked University of Mount Olive defeated Emmanuel College 18-6 in Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse Saturday at Franklin Springs, Ga. The contest was the Trojans' regular season finale.

With the win, Mount Olive finishes third in the regular season conference standings and earns the No. 3 seed in next weekend's Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Tournament. The Trojans will take on No. 2 seed Pfeiffer in the semifinal round Friday at 7 p.m.

Ball scored all of his goals in the first half as Mount Olive (10-4 overall, 4-2 Conference Carolinas) led 4-0 after one period and 12-1 at the half. Matt Shields scored a pair of goals in the second period, while Clayton Warren scored a goal each in the first and second periods.

Mount Olive will be the No. 3 seed in the 2015 Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Tournament and will face second-seeded Pfeiffer in the semifinal round Friday at 7 p.m. at Gaffney, S.C. Top-seeded Limestone is the tournament host.

Vincent Cardella scored a pair of goals in the second half for Mount Olive and Brett Kingston's goal with 30 seconds left in the third period gave the Trojans a 16-3 advantage. Cardella finished with three goals as 10 different Trojans found the back of the net.

Starting goalkeeper Ross Bowman played 48 minutes in goal for the Trojans and recorded six saves. Will Urban had four saves in the final 12 minutes.

Emmanuel (2-10, 1-4) was led by Austin Brundage with two goals.

Mount Olive fell to Pfeiffer 15-12 during the regular season. The Trojans defeated the Falcons 10-6 in the semifinal round of last year's conference tournament. Limestone faces No. 4 seed Belmont Abbey in the first semifinal. The two semifinal winners advance to the Championship Game next Sunday.
