No. 15 Trojans Fall To No. 2 Le Moyne 12-5 In Non-Conference Men's Lacrosse

Nationally 15th-ranked University of Mount Olive was within a goal early in the second quarter, but a 6-0 run broke the game open as the Trojans fell to second-ranked and 2015 national runner-up Le Moyne University 12-5 in non-conference men's lacrosse Sunday at Baltimore, Md. The contest was played at Homewood Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins University, which reached the semifinals of last year's NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship.

Mount Olive (5-2) took a 2-1 lead midway through the first quarter after Brett Kingston scored a pair of goals for the Trojans. Le Moyne (3-0) tied the game with just under five minutes left and Logan Thomas's goal with 45 seconds remaining in the quarter put the Dolphins ahead to stay.

After Le Moyne took a two-goal lead 44 seconds into the second quarter, Mount Olive responded off the ensuing faceoff. Tyler Feniello picked up the ground ball after winning the faceoff, then found Matt Shields scored to pull the Trojans within 4-3 with exactly 14 minutes remaining before halftime. But Le Moyne held Mount Olive scoreless for nearly 29 minutes and built its lead to 10-3.

Adam Lehnard's goal with two seconds left in the third quarter ended the Trojans' scoreless drought. Austin Whitlow closed out the game's scoring with 1:19 left in the contest.

Feniello finished 10-for-18 in faceoffs, while Luke Morris led all players with three caused turnovers. Ross Bowman recorded seven saves in goal for the Trojans.

Le Moyne was led by Thomas, who scored a game-high four goals.

Mount Olive has nearly a week to prepare for its second straight national top 10 opponent as the Trojans travel to Erie, Pa., to take on Mercyhurst University. The Trojans defeated Mercyhurst 13-9 last year at Amon Field. Faceoff is 1 p.m.
