No. 12 Mount Olive Defeats North Greenville 12-6

No. 12 University of Mount Olive defeated North Greenville 12-6 in Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse Saturday afternoon in Tigerville, S.C.

Mount Olive (7-2 Overall, 1-0 Conference Carolinas) had to wait until 6:01 left in the opening quarter before the Trojans found the back of the net. Adam Lenhard made a move and was able to beat the Crusader keeper for the early 1-0 lead.

North Greenville (3-6, 1-1) however, was able to bounce back in the second quarter as in the opening minute Drew Warren tied the game with his shot at the 14:37 mark. Warren put the Crusaders in front less than two minutes later as he scored with 13:23.

Spencer Gelinas tied the game up for Mount Olive with 4:46 left before halftime.

The Trojans went on a 3-0 run to open up the third quarter. Jesse Mitchell, Brett Kingston, and Matthew Morris all scored with two minutes of each other to give Mount Olive a 5-2 lead with 11:15 left in the third.

Two goals were put up by North Greenville to draw to with one with just under seven minutes remaining. Mount Olive then went on another 3-0 run to end the third quarter and take an 8-4 lead.

The fourth quarter was all Mount Olive as after a Crusader goal with 10:34 left, the Trojans went on a four goal run to pad their lead. North Greenville was able to score one final goal in the last minute of play; however that was all they could manage as the Trojans did not allow another goal for the remainder of the match.

Mount Olive will remain on road as the Trojans will head to Misenheimer, N.C. to face Conference Carolinas foe Pfeiffer University Wednesday. The first face is set for 7 p.m.
