No. 8 Mount Olive Defeats Lees-McRae 16-3

No. 8 University of Mount Olive defeated Lees-McRae 16-3 Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse at Amon field in Mount Olive, N.C. Bret Kingston led the way with four goals all coming in a 12-0 run that begin in the second quarter.

Mount Olive (10-2 Overall, 4-0 Conference Carolinas) fell behind with 12:11 left in the first quarter as Lees-McRae (2-9, 0-4) found the back of the net first. Alec Molander scored the first goal of the game for the Bobcats with an unassisted shot. 

Jacob Ball put Mount olive on the board and in the lead with back-to-back goals at the 7:08 and 3:04 marks in the first quarter respectively.

The Bobcats came back in the opening seconds of the second quarter. Dane Camey found an opening to tie the game up at two. Kingston opened up the game for Mount Olive. The junior attacker struck for goal with 10:51 left in the second. The goal sparked a 12-0 run that was not stopped until the 8:03 mark of the fourth quarter. 

Lees-McRae was not able to recover from the big run by Mount Olive and the game ended with two more Trojan goals. Luke Koferi and Evan Floyd tacked on the final goals of the game and the Trojans picked up the win.

Kingston added three caused turnovers to his team high goals on the match. Eddie Henrickson, Matt Shields, Ball, and Koferi all added two goals apiece for the Trojan offense. In goal Ross Bowman (10-2) allowed two goals on seven shots on goal and had five saves.

Mount Olive will remain at home as the Trojans will host Emmanuel April 16 at Amon Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
