No. 11 Men's Lacrosse Falls To Queens 6-5

Mount Olive, N.C. – The 11th-ranked University of Mount Olive men's lacrosse team fell to the Royals of Queens University 6-5 in non-conference competition Saturday afternoon at the Ray McDonald Sr Track and Field/Lacrosse Complex.

How It Happened
Play-by-Play

FIRST QUARTER

  • Mount Olive saw the Royals strike first as with 11:45 remaining in the first quarter Queens found the back of the net to take the early lead.
  • Jacob Ball found the answer with just under six and a half minute to play in the quarter, but UMO could not find the go-ahead goal and the quarter ended in a draw.

SECOND QUARTER

  • The second quarter ended with both teams posting a single goal and the halftime horn sounded with a tied 2-2 score.

THIRD QUARTER

  • Queens had the advantage in the third quarter as the Royals blasted home three goals to the Trojans one and took a 5-3 lead heading into the fourth.

FOURTH QUARTER

  • Jacob Ball scored twice for the home Trojans in the fourth, but it proved to not be enough as Queens again had an answer and held off any potential swing for a comeback and Mount Olive fell 6-5.

KEY STATS

  • Ball led the Trojans with three goals.
  • Between the posts, Will Urban (W: 3-1) took the loss, making 11 saves on 17 shots.
