No. 16 UMO Men's Lacrosse Takes Downs North Greenville 8-5

Mount Olive, N.C. – The 16th-ranked University of Mount Olive men's lacrosse team defeated the Crusaders of North Greenville University 8-5 in Conference Carolinas competition Saturday afternoon in Tigerville, S.C.

How It Happened
Play-by-Play

FIRST QUARTER

  • Mount Olive took the early momentum as the Trojans won the opening faceoff and scored the first goal of the game 52 seconds later as Jacob Ball scored an unassisted goal and UMO took the lead.
  • The Crusaders found the equalizer at the 11:30 mark and knotted the game back at one.
  • Thatcher Clark put UMO back ahead two minutes later as he scored an unassisted goal with 9:49 left in the quarter.
  • Neither team found a goal for the remainder of the quarter and the Trojans took a 2-1 lead heading into the second.

SECOND QUARTER

  • The Trojans scored first in the second quarter with 13:38 left as Clark added his second score to his sheet to give UMO a two-goal lead.
  • The two teams then exchanged the next four scores and ended the half with Mount Olive still holding on to a slim two-goal 5-3 lead going into halftime.

THIRD QUARTER

  • Gunner Parson got the Mount Olive scoring started in the third with 11:04 on the clock to extend the lead to 6-3.
  • The Trojans saw their lead grow to its largest of the game five minutes later as Tim Collins scored an unassisted goal to move the deficit for the Crusaders to four.
  • NGU closed out the quarter scoring two unanswered goals to reclose the gap back to two as the Trojans lead went down to 7-5.

FOURTH QUARTER

  • The final quarter was a stalemate that saw only one goal as both team's defenses held off more than just the sole UMO goal scored by Jacob Ball with 10:37 and Mount Olive took home the 8-5 victory.
