No. 13 Men's Lacrosse Dominates No. 15 Lindenwood University 15-4

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The 13th-ranked University of Mount Olive men's lacrosse team defeated the No. 15 Lindenwood University Lions in non-conference NCAA Division II action Saturday afternoon at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex in Mount Olive, N.C.

How It Happened
Play-by-Play

FIRST QUARTER

  • Mount Olive wasted no time in getting a goal on the scoreboard as Brody Sullivan connected with the back of the goal 31 seconds into the match off an assisted pass from Austin Whitlow.
  • The Lions evened things up seven minutes later with an unassisted goal, but the Trojans regained the lead just before the end of the first quarter as Gunnar Parson scored with 1:22 left on an assist from Sullivan.

SECOND QUARTER

  • UMO completely controlled the second quarter as they scored five goals while allowing their opponents zero in the 15 minute period.
  • Thatcher Clark scored a pair of man-up goals with assists coming from Sullivan and Balke Tallon.
  • Tyler Keele put in the fifth goal of the contest for the Trojans on an assist from Lucas Shein, who assisted on the following goal by Nathan Bradley with 61 seconds remaining in the half.
  • Scott Dagnanleach added one more into the back of the net with just five seconds remaining on the clock off the pass from Clark to give UMO the 7-1 at the halftime break.

THIRD QUARTER

  • The Trojans continued their schooling of the Lions as they added six more goals in the third quarter while giving up one to LU.
  • Parson found a goal 37 seconds back into action to get things rolling, while Conner Watson scored off the pass from Tim Collins just under two minutes later.
  • Lindenwood found their second goal of the game at the 11:33 mark of the third quarter putting the score at 9-2 Trojans lead.
  • The rest of the quarter was all UMO as Dagnanleach, Collins, Whitlow, and Sullivan all found the goal, taking a 13-2 lead into the final 15 minutes of play.

FOURTH QUARTER

  • Whitlow added his second goal of the game three minutes into the fourth as Mount Olive increased their lead to 12 goals, 14-2.
  • Nick Peterson scored with just under five minutes remaining on a pass from Austin Robinson before the Lions snuck two goals past keeper Matthew Stidham putting the final tally at 15-4 and a Mount Olive victory.
